I have put a LOT of thought into this. At this stage of life, my perfect situation would be to find someone who is independent and self-sufficient on their own, who has a life of their own that they are comfortable with, but who wants to have someone in their life to enjoy life with. Not necessarily to live together right away but to get together whenever we both want to have friendship, companionship, intimacy, relaxation, travel, etc. In my mind, that keeps everything fresh and exciting, looking forward to the next adventure. Then, as things progress, modify the relationship naturally.
I think folks our age are the way they are going to be until the end and we are probably not going to change. We just have to find out if we like the other person the way they are.
I have had a great life so far and have been very fortunate with good friends, a good career, and many interests. I look forward to many more years of great living.
Since I retired, I spend the summers in Alaska and the winters in Texas and have homes in both places. I would love share that adventure with someone.
